Golden Cross vs Death Cross: Differences, Signals and Examples
A golden cross forms when a faster moving average, commonly the 50-day SMA, crosses above a slower moving average such as the 200-day SMA and is interpreted as potentially bullish whereas a death cross forms when the faster average crosses below the slower one and is interpreted as potentially bearish. Both are lagging signals based on past prices, so neither guarantees what the market will do next. The two patterns describe opposite directions of the same <a href="https://www.tmgm.com/en/academy/trading-academy/moving-average-crossover">moving average crossover</a> and require market context, confirmation and risk controls.
