XBRUSD definition

XBRUSD is the market symbol for Brent crude oil priced in US dollars per barrel. Brent is the international benchmark for crude pricing, drawn from oilfields in the North Sea, and a large share of the world's crude is valued in relation to it.

You trade XBRUSD as an Oil CFD, a position on the price movement of Brent without owning any physical crude. Going long means you expect the price to rise, while going short means you expect it to fall. The instrument is quoted in US dollars per barrel and moves in price points.

Brent prices respond to OPEC+ output decisions, crude inventory levels, global demand, and the strength of the US dollar. XBRUSD is often confused with WTIUSD: Brent is the international benchmark, while WTI tracks US crude, and the two usually trade at slightly different prices.

XBRUSD Example

Say XBRUSD is trading at 82.00 per barrel. You expect prices to rise on tighter OPEC+ supply, so you open a long Oil CFD position at that level using 10:1 leverage.

Brent climbs to 84.00 per barrel and you close the position.

Your gain is 2.00 per barrel on the price move (84.00 minus 82.00), before any costs.
