A spokesperson for Qatar's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that Iran's South Pars gas field is an extension of Qatar's North Field, per Reuters.

"Israel's targeting of facilities linked to Iran's South Pars gas field is a dangerous and irresponsible step amid the current military escalation in the region," the spokesperson added.

Earlier in the day, Iran's state television reported that the US and Israeli airstrikes have hit its South Pars natural gas field and associated infrastructure.
