Microsoft to Separately Disclose Azure Quarterly Revenue Following Business Segment Restructuring!
Microsoft plans to begin separately disclosing quarterly revenue for its Azure cloud computing division, responding to years of calls from Wall Street for greater transparency into this key growth engine. The financial reporting structure adjustment comes alongside the software giant's first major restructuring of its reportable business segments since 2015 and is expected to take effect when it releases its first-quarter results this fall.
According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Microsoft will consolidate its three existing business segments into two new divisions: Agents and Infrastructure, and Devices and Consumers. The Agents and Infrastructure division will combine Azure, server products, and Microsoft 365 commercial software, while the Devices and Consumers division will cover revenue from Windows, Xbox gaming, search, and LinkedIn advertising. Alongside the restructuring, the company disclosed historical data showing that Azure's quarterly revenue has continued to grow, reaching $29.4 billion in the most recent quarter.

For the full fiscal year ended in June this year, Azure's annual sales surpassed $100 billion, up significantly from $75 billion in the previous fiscal year and accounting for approximately 30% of Microsoft's total revenue.
By disclosing specific revenue figures rather than only reporting growth percentages, Microsoft is providing analysts with a direct quarterly benchmark for comparison with major cloud computing competitors, Amazon Web Services and Google. Amid the industry's ongoing wave of AI data center construction, competition remains intense, with AWS alone generating $128.7 billion in sales in calendar year 2025.
The restructuring highlights Microsoft's evolving corporate strategy. As the company continues to deepen its commercial AI initiatives and maintain its critical infrastructure partnership with OpenAI, it is accelerating this strategic transformation.
Market Insight:
Investors will closely monitor whether the newly combined Agents and Infrastructure segment can achieve sustained margin improvement as enterprise demand for cloud computing and AI software accelerates in fiscal 2027. Following the announcement, Microsoft's stock rose in after-hours trading as investors digested the implications of the large-scale organizational restructuring.
