4.        History Tab

This tab provides a detailed record of all your closed positions and orders. It is a valuable tool for monitoring your performance and analyzing your trading history. The MT5 tablet app also allows you to sort and filter your trade history by criteria such as profit, closing time, or symbol.

How to Trade with MetaTrader 5 on Your Tablet

Placing orders on your tablet is straightforward, and the larger display helps you review trade details clearly before execution. Follow these steps to place an order on MT5:

Step 1: Select an Instrument

  • Navigate to the Quotes tab and tap the instrument you wish to trade (e.g., EUR/USD), then select Trade.

Step 2: Configure Trade Parameters

-         Order Type: MT5 offers two primary order types:

  • Market Execution: Executes the trade immediately at the current market price.

  • Pending Order: Allows you to set an order to execute at a specified future price level, ideal for entering the market at a precise price.

-          Volume: Specify the number of lots to trade, representing your position size.

-          Stop Loss : A predefined level to automatically close your trade if the market moves against you. For long positions, set below the current price; for short positions, above.

-          Take Profit : A target price to automatically close the trade once a profit level is reached. For long positions, set above current price; for short positions, below.

Step 3: Execute the Trade

  • Market Execution

If Market Execution is selected, execute the trade by choosing ‘Sell by Market’ or ‘Buy by Market’.

  • ‘Buy’ to open a long position if you anticipate the instrument's price will rise.

  • ‘Sell’ to open a short position if you expect the price to decline.

Note that actual execution prices may vary slightly, especially in volatile markets. For greater price control, consider using pending orders.

  • Pending Order

Pending orders allow you to plan trades at specific future price levels. MT5 provides several pending order types for enhanced control:

Limit: Executes only when the market price reaches the specified price or better.

Stop: Triggers at the specified price and fills at the prevailing market price, which may differ from the stop price.

Stop-Limit: Combines stop and limit orders for more precise price execution. This MT5-exclusive feature helps avoid slippage during volatile conditions but may be harder to fill due to stricter criteria.

After selecting the order type, choose whether to ‘Buy’ or ‘Sell’ to open a long or short position, respectively.

Expiration: Set an expiration date and time for the order if the market does not reach your specified price.

  • GTC (Good 'Till Cancelled): The order remains active until manually cancelled.

  • Today: The order expires automatically if not executed by the end of the trading day.

  • Specified (Time): Set a specific date and time for order expiration if unfilled.

  • Specified Day: Set a specific date for order expiration if unfilled.

Once all parameters are configured, tap Place to submit the pending order.

How to Monitor and Modify Your Positions on MT5 for Tablets

The Trade tab displays all your open positions, including real-time profit/loss, margin usage, and current market prices.

  • Modify Orders: To adjust Stop Loss or Take Profit levels, tap and hold an open position, then select “Modify” to update parameters.

  • Close Orders: To close a trade, tap and hold the open position and select “Close Order” to exit based on current market conditions.
