Top 3 Price Predictions: Can Bitcoin (BTC) hold critical support as Ethereum (ETH) struggles beneath resistance and Ripple (XRP) falls further?

  • Further losses are in focus as Bitcoin retreats towards the key 200-day EMA near $76,466 on Wednesday; a decisive close below would signal scope for a deeper decline.
  • Selling pressure persists in Ethereum near $2,255, following its failure to close above an important resistance zone.
  • Rejection at the upper boundary of a falling channel keeps XRP trading below $1.25.

Bearish sentiment continues to pressure Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP) on Wednesday, leaving all three vulnerable to further declines. For BTC, support near $76,466 is coming into view, with a decisive close beneath it potentially paving the way for steeper losses. ETH, meanwhile, remains constrained by key resistance, while rejection at the upper boundary of a falling channel weighs on XRP.

Could a close below the 200-day EMA deepen Bitcoin’s correction?

The near-term outlook for Bitcoin remains bearish on Wednesday, with the price at $76,664. While BTC is holding just above its 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) of $76,466, the 100-day EMA at $77,770 continues to limit advances.

Additional overhead resistance comes from the 50-day EMA near $79,997. At around 35, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) points to easing downward pressure but offers no clear sign of a recovery. Despite tentative stabilisation above the 200-day EMA, bearish momentum retains the upper hand, with the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) still recording a negative reading below zero.

Any rebound would first encounter the 100-day EMA at $77,770, ahead of the 50-day EMA around $79,997. Beyond these levels, the horizontal resistance near $85,000 presents a more substantial obstacle.

The 200-day EMA at $76,466 offers the nearest support. A decisive breach of this zone would likely leave BTC facing a deeper correction over the coming sessions.

Can Ethereum overcome key resistance after failing to close above it?

A bearish near-term outlook persists for Ethereum on Wednesday as the price, at $2,255, remains beneath the 200-day and 100-day EMAs of $2,315 and $2,349. The broken rising trendline has also moved above ETH and now offers resistance near $2,399. Although bearish momentum has slowed, continued downside pressure is indicated by an RSI of 34 near oversold territory and a MACD that remains negative.

For a recovery, the first hurdle is the 200-day EMA at $2,315, followed by the 100-day EMA at $2,349. Further resistance lies at the former trendline around $2,399 and the nearby horizontal level of $2,400. A stronger advance would then encounter the 50-day EMA at $2,404, ahead of the higher barrier at $2,770.

Should the decline continue, the horizontal support zone around $1,824 remains the key structural floor, where greater buying interest would be expected to emerge.

Why does XRP’s outlook remain bearish?

Trading beneath its key EMAs keeps XRP’s near-term outlook bearish, with the price at $1.254 on Wednesday. Overhead resistance is layered across the 50-day EMA at $1.334, the 100-day EMA at $1.323 and the 200-day EMA at $1.377. These barriers reinforce the downward bias as XRP remains below the earlier downward trendline break at $1.275.

Selling pressure continues to dominate, according to subdued momentum readings: the RSI is around 39 and the MACD is slightly negative. Nevertheless, the immediate follow-through to the downside remains limited.

A rebound would initially meet resistance around $1.275 at the former trendline break, before reaching the horizontal barrier of $1.300. The EMA cluster at $1.323 and $1.334 follows, with a higher hurdle at $1.377 reinforcing the broader corrective structure. A more sustained recovery would likely encounter additional selling interest near $1.540 and $1.900.

Initial support lies at $1.160, followed by a lower floor at $1.000. Sustained trading below these levels would pave the way for a sharper bearish extension in the coming sessions.

What drives cryptocurrency prices? FAQs

Demand and adoption among market participants are influenced by token launches. When a crypto exchange lists an asset, its liquidity improves and new participants join its network. The effect on the digital asset is generally bullish.

During a hack, an attacker uses exploits, bugs or other methods to seize a large quantity of an asset from a DeFi bridge, an exchange’s hot wallet or another crypto platform. The attacker subsequently moves the tokens off exchange platforms, ultimately selling them or exchanging them for other cryptocurrencies or stablecoins. Widespread panic often follows such incidents, prompting a sell-off in the affected assets.

The main channel through which macroeconomic events, such as interest rate decisions by the US Federal Reserve, influence crypto assets is their direct effect on the US Dollar. Higher interest rates generally weigh on Bitcoin and altcoin prices, while lower rates tend to have the opposite effect. A fall in the US Dollar index makes risk assets and the associated leverage used for trading cheaper, thereby pushing crypto prices higher.

By cutting miners’ block rewards in half, halvings restrict an asset’s supply and are therefore generally viewed as bullish events. With demand unchanged, a reduction in supply drives the asset’s price higher.
